Last year, the facility I was working at completed a comprehensive renovation of a cardiology department with the addition of a new service: electrophysiology. The previous cardiology department consisted of one intervention procedure room, one heart catheterization procedure room, and a four-bay recovery area. This department was very outdated, nearly 17 years old. Many of the devices were well past their life expectancy and were no longer supported. The CRT monitors were strapped onto oversized booms, and the dimensions and size constraints in the procedure rooms made it difficult for even one person to work in.
