Method for Measuring Passband of Spatial Frequency Channels of the Visual System

A method for measuring the passband of the spatial frequency channels of the visual system is discussed. This method is based on measurement of flickering frequency of two light-emitting diodes. Experiments demonstrated that two light-emitting diodes are more effective than a single light-emitting diode. Research on the visual system show that gratings with sinusoidal brightness distribution and different spatial frequency are very effective. Spatial frequency is assumed to be the number of periods (cycles) of brightness distribution per degree of visual field (cycle/deg). The transition function of the visual system is the dependence of sinusoidal grating brightness on spatial frequency [1, 2]. The visual system is simulated by a frequency band-filter characterized by passband. Aspects of measurement of visual system passband were discussed in [3]. The method of passband measurement suggested in [3] is based on flickering frequency thres-hold. The flickering is presented using single light source. The goal of this work was to develop a method for measuring the passband of the spatial frequency channels of the visual system. This method appears to increase the monitoring accuracy.
