Equitable Market Access creating headaches

Wood marketing boards in New Brunswick have serious reservations about the workability of an Equitable Marketing Access program, which was designed to bolster dwindling sales, as some charge Irving with being overly demanding on program components andprice. But Irving argues it has been acting in good faith, and the rules it has been requiring are necessary. The Equitable Marketing Access trial began early in June 2008 and was given the task of determining if equitable market access could be achieved by establishing the boards as exclusive marketing agents of wood from private woodlots. During the trial period mills in the province agreed that all wood from private woodlots would either be marketed by the boards or through direct contracts approved by the boards.
