The subjects of pollination and bee flora are extremely important to the beekeeping and greater community. I occasionally emphasise to my work colleagues (livestock people, horticulturists and agronomists), that honey bees are the corner stone of agriculture. In essence, they are a vital and critical component of what we should all be about, that is the design and maintenance of long term sustainable agriculture production systems. All too often the importance of honey bees and pollinators is forgotten or is of vague consequence to the greater community. Occasionally, usually when crisis strikes, the role of honey bees does become news worthy and the general public gain an insight into the world of honey bees and beekeeping.
