German Textile Machinery:Exports at Unchanged High Level in 2003

Despite dullness in the global economy,German manufacturers of textile machinery and accessories were able to stabilize their exports in 2003 at an unchanged high level.The overall value of machines supplied to textile industries all over the world added up to 3.79 billion euro.Most demanded were spinning machines with 942 million euro,and with a plus of more than 5% this branch represents more than a quarter of overall export sales.Weaving machinery manufacturers still increased more clearly with 18% to 549 million euro.With an increase of 1.2%,manufacturers of knitting machines could maintain their result of the previous year,and their export share of about 20% remained the same.Big losses in the range of 17% tempered the results of the washing,bleaching,dyeing and finishing sector.
