Thai exports of textile goods increased by 6.3% in 2003 from the previous year to USus5,471.9 million.The main export item is apparel,which accounted for 55% of total exports as compared with 60% in 2001.Last year,apparel exports rose by 1.4% to USus3,021.6 million.The U.S.,EU,and Japan are major markets for Thai apparel.The total export value of these three markets amounted to USus3,266.2 million,up 2.4%.However,exports to the American market dropped by 4.5% as a result of keen competition with Chinese products.Meanwhile,textile exports to China/Hong Kong have increased,the growth rate rising from 8.3% in 2002 to 29.4% last year.
