To graze or not to graze: Whole farm grazing for eight months of pasture

Grazing beef cattle is, in my mind, one of the most cost-effective ways to feed cows, short of having some cheap, useful, by-product feed delivered to your doorstep. When comparing all the costs of feeding cattle, including labor, bedding costs, manure spreading, harvesting, and storing of feed, well-managed pasture has hay or silage beat hands down. Yet there is still a lot of room for beef farmers to make better use of grazing, especially through the fall.
