What can young people do? - 4-H show provides shining examples

They drove tractors, baked pies, scrubbed cattle, sheared sheep, showed off all kinds of things built out of fabric, wood, and metal, and had a great time. All that and much, much more for more than a thousand young people age nine to 21 taking part in the Nova Scotia Provincial 4-H Show held Oct. 10-11 at the exhibition grounds in Bridgewater. They came from all over the province, representing more than 80 local 4-H clubs. Arthur Pick, acting manager of 4-H with the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, said he is "very pleased: with how the 2009 show went." The annual gathering is the largest of its kind in Canada and regularly draws a crowd of visitors 10,000 strong.
