Exports of woven fabrics from Japan are fighting a tough battle. In addition to falling unit prices and shrinking volume, there has been a turnaround from a weaker yen to a stronger yen. Moreover, the penetration of Chinese-made apparel into the Middle East market is substantial. In order to cope with this situation, the improvement and expansion of sophisticated materials as well as the streamlining of sales systems have become imperative.
