Three firms, namely, Shikibo Ltd., Clariant Japan K.K. and Navitas Co., Ltd. have pursued joint studies and developed a fiber which allows the marking of letters and images with high accuracy by a laser beam. Presently, jointly with the Hamamatsu Industrial Research Institute of Shizuoka prefecture, these three firms are carrying out experiments on a device for the laser beam irradiation of fibers as well as the conditions for such irradiation.
