The State of Maharashtra, which was known as powerhouse of Indian economy till the turn of the century was also the powerhouse of Indian glass industry for a long time. Other states (Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Rajasthan) however had much development in terms of new glass plants installations throughout the first decade of the new century.
