Gazprom reveals far east upstream plans

Gazprom has confirmed that it plans to move forward with building an LNG plant at Vladivostok, but that it has again delayed a final investment decision (FID) on expanding the Sakhalin 2 project. “Sakhalin 3’s Kirinsky and South Kirinsky fields would provide gas for the first and the second Vladivostok LNG trains,” deputy chief executive Vitaly Markelov told a brief- ing in Moscow on 21 May. The first and second 5mn t/yr trains are due on line in 2018 and 2020, respectively, he added. Gazprom’s Chayandinskoye field in Sakha-Yakutia would provide gas for a third 5mn t/yr Vladivostok LNG train, but it is unclear if and when this might be launched. “First, we will have to look at how the first two trains are working,” Markelov said. Gazprom initially said it planned to build a 10mn t/yr plant at Vladivostok, but following February’s FID on the project, the firm said capacity could rise to 15mn t/yr (FSUE, 28 February, p3).
