Gazprom has no immediate plans to speed up development of east Siberia’s 1.2 trillion m3Chayandinskoye field,despite hoping to sign a supply deal with China’s CNPC next month. “We work in accordance with our plans and our abilities —Kirinsky and South Kirinsky are our priorities in the far east now,”deputy chief executive Vitaly Markelov said at a 13 May briefing,referring to the two offshore Sakhalin fields (see box).Markelov was replying to a question about whether Gazprom will rethink its priorities and decide to focus invest-ment on Chayandinskoye if it signs a deal with CNPC. Chayandinskoye is still being explored and Markelov
