KHD Humboldt Wedag AG received an order for the setting up of a new Pneuflot flotation System without agitator in the processing plant of the Westerholt mine of "DSK". The processing section of the Westerholt mine produces coke and power-plant coal in two different Systems, i.e. a total of 1 250 t/h. The new, single-stage Pneuflot cell (operated with pressure-input air) will be designed as wash-water flotation System. Starting in March 2002 the unit will separate up to 600 m3/h of raw pulp (0 - 0.5 mm) of a solids content of no more than approximately 50 g/l from the two sys-tems to a concentrate of less than 8 percent ash content and tailings with more than 75 percent ash content. It is noteworthy in this connec-tion that the consumption rate of flotation reagent (type Ekofol 452 of Ekof Flotation GmbH) can be guaranteed to be approximately 20 percent less than when using compa-rable products. The decisive aspect for the use of the KHD-Pneuflot (Figure) were not only the worldwide tested and operationally relia-ble technique - being applied to an increa-sing extent by the mineral industry as well - but, in particular, the favourable invest-ment/operating cost and the proven high sharpness of cut.
