Hi-Tech Group juggles with its ingredients

Hi-Tech Group, Pakistan' largest feed manufacturer has been successfully producing a low energy broiler diet appropriate for Pakistan. CHAKRIT RIDMONTRI reports on how the company uses what it describes as a 'cocktail' of locally produced grains and meals. The feeds produced in Pakistan are mainly for poultry and its diverse contents make it unique. Between 65-70% of the feeds are for broiler and the remaining 30-35% are breeder and layer feeds. In an interview in Lahore, P.M. Sabir, Chairman of Hi-Tech Feeds (Pvt) Ltd, Pakistan's largest feed manufacturer, told Asian Poultry Magazine that the feed industry in Pakistan has been growing at an average rate of 10% per year. In 2003, Pakistan produced 2.8 million tonnes of feeds, from the total installed capacity of about four million tonnes.
