摘要

The present work is a further validation and analysis of a global combustion model developed by the same Authors and integrated in the original version of the KIVA-II code. The results obtained from the simulations are discussed in comparison with the experimental data relevant to a DI supercharged heavy-duty unit: Caterpillar-3406. The capability of the proposed model to simulate the combustion processes of different class engines is analysed and discussed. In particular, the results from simulations executed on the Caterpillar engine are compared with the ones obtained in a previous work on a small size not-supercharged DI engine.
