Titan twins open Quanzhou's account

With the launch of two double-hulled bunker tankers in as many months and orders lined up for a further 20 vessels, another Chinese shipyard recently announced its arrival on the oil & gas shipbuilding, ship repair and offshore engineering stage. David Morgan reviews Titan Quanzhou's ambitious expansion plans. Located in China's Fujian province, the Titan Quanzhou Shipyard launched the first of its 6500 ton bunker tankers, Titan Honour, in August this year and followed up with sister vessel Titan Spirit on 12 September. Ordered by Titan Oil, they represent the first fruits of a US210 million order book involving the delivery of a total of 22 vessels to customers in Hong Kong, Singapore and Norway over the period 2007-2009.
