The Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has approved an investment of 200 million for exploration and development of coal bed methane (CBM) in six blocks in Jharkhand and West Bengal,adjacent states in east central India.Production is scheduled for mid-2007,with an estimated peak output of 275mmcf/d of gas from the proposed development wells.ONGC plans to utilise a horizontal-inseam-multilateral drilling technique,proven in Australia and the US.
