Taiwan's Hsinchu Biomedical Science Park and Kaohsiung Biotechnology Park

Southern Taiwan Science Park (Kaohsiung Biotechnology Park) As part of the Southern Taiwan Science Park, Kaohsiung Biotechnology Park occupies some 21-acre land in Nanzih District of Kaohsiung City. The park was approved by the Executive Yuan on May 17, 2004 to be established on the 21-acre land owned by the Veterans Affairs Commission of Executive Yuan in Nanzih District of Kaohsiung City. The land is developed and operated by the National Science Council according to the "Act for Establishment andAdministration of Science Parks" while listed as one of the sites of the Southern Taiwan Science Park. The Executive Yuan approved the Kaohsiung Biotechnology Park Development Plan, in principle, on January 20, 2005 and determined that the the development of the Kaohsiung Biotechnology Park should be initiated based on the private-participation mechanism on February 8, 2007.
