Comparisons are sometimes inevitable.Unlike LG Chem,its main competitor in the South Korean market,Hanwha Chemical does not have an aggressive plan for expansion in polyvinyl chloride(PVC),a core product for both companies.LG Chem is already manufacturing PVC in China,and plans to raise its total capacity in the country to 1m tonne/year from 340 000 tonne/year by 2010(see page 13).
