US achieves momentary balance

The panic that drove US gasoline prices to one record high after the other in the second quarter has subsided,at least for the moment,as stocks look stable and demand growth has dropped substantially.But the US gasoline market is precariously balanced,as refineries continue to push out as much gasoline as possible and imports provide critical additions to key regions.Demand growth slowed considerably in June,but gasoline consumption usually climbs from the 4 July holiday until the Labor Day weekend in early September.And prices have slipped,which could stimulate demand again.
