European surplus goes into foating storage

Onshore stocks of middle distillates are flling up in Europe, forcing suppliers to resort to foating storage or take longer shipping routes to delay delivery. A jet fuel and gasoil surplus is building offshore Europe. Products shipments from Rotterdam to inland destinations have been limited by low Rhine water levels, which are forecast to remain depressed for at least a week. Gasoil held in independent storage in the Rotterdam region is close to a recent 3.8mn t record. And jet stocks are just below late September’s fve-year high (see table, left).
