NuScale secures $275mn financing for first SMR nuclear plant planned in Romania

US President Joe Biden announced on May 20, on the sidelines of the Hiroshima summit, financial support for the development of the modular small reactor (SMR), worth $275mn, from the US, Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. In November 2021, NuScale announced its intent to build its first reactors in Romania with the Romanian nuclear group Nuclearelectrica.
