Ferrous scrap collection in Ukraine (excluding steelworks' own arisings) may reach 5.7 million metric tonnes in 2013 and thus fall 5% from 5.98 million mt collected in 2012, Kiev-based analyst Ukr Prom Zovnish Ekspertiza forecasts. Even though national crude steel output may grow to 33.7 million mt, up 2.5% from 2011, Ukrainian steelmakers' demand for scrap is likely to decrease to 5.5 million mt from 5.75 million mt in 2012.
