Alberta wildfires rattle midcontinent

US midcontinent gasoline and diesel prices gained 12￠/USG and 8￠/USG, respectively, in part because of concerns over disruptions to crude supply from Canada. Wildfires in Alberta forced more than 1mn b/d of oil sands production off stream. The midcontinent region’s top three refineries relied on Canada for 60-100pc of their crude feedstock in February. Unplanned refinery closures and higher demand lifted values further.
