EGAS Calls Bids for Eight Exploration Tracts in the Nile Delta and the Mediterranean Sea

The Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) has issued its first tender independently of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC),calling bids for eight exploration tracts.Two are located onshore in the Nile delta,while the other six are offshore in the Mediterranean.The tender,which was announced by the Oil Minister,Mr.Sameh Fahmy,on 4 January and posted on the EGAS internet site at the same time,sets a closing day of 18 January next for the onshore blocks and the following 18 April for the offshore blocks,which seem very short lead times for regions that are so prolific in natural gas.
