Gulf sands Reports Another Oil Discovery on Block 26 with the Yousefieh-1 Well

The British firm Gulfsands Petroleum has announced that its Yousefieh-1 well on Block 26 (see map below), which was drilled to a depth of 2,139 meters to tap a Cretaceous formation, encountered an interval containing 63 meters of net oil pay. A drill stem test (DST) was carried out of a 19-meter interval and yielded a natural flow of 900 b/d of crude with no water in a three-hour test using a 48/64-inch choke. The well also produced 1,450 b/d of oil, together with some gas, for three hours through a 96/64-inch choke. Preliminary test results indicate that the reservoir has good permeability.
