Kahramaa Planning to Invest 30 Billion in the Expansion of its Power and Water Production Capacities

Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) intends to raise borrowings and arrange bond issues to part-finance its program for expanding its power generation and water production capacities between now and 2015, which is expected to cost 30 billion altogether. Addressing a conference organized by the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED), the Technical Affairs Director of Kahramaa, Mr. Abdallah al-Subaie, explained that over the short term, up to 2010, investments of at least 7.5 billion were planned, compared with the 7.8 billion the company had invested since its creation in 2000. The breakdown of these investments between the power and water sectors will be 75:25%.
