France looks again at neonic STs on sugar beet for 2023: 13 December 2022

The French Minister of Agriculture, Marc Fesneau, has indicated an extension in 2023 of a derogation given this year allowing the temporary marketing and use of seed treatments based on the neonicotinoid insecticides, imidacloprid and thiamethoxam, on sugar beet, national media report. In a video shown at the general assembly of the French confederation of sugar beet growers, the CGB, Mr Fesneau said that while waiting for alternatives to the insecticides, the first step was to extend the derogation for the sowing of the year, 2023.
