The growing interest in conflicts and wars in India in the past few years has seen a number of books on more contemporary operations such as the "Surgical Strike," by Indian Army and Air Force in Pakistan in 2016 and 2019 respectively. These touched the popular mood in the country. It is not surprising then that publishers sought to return to favourite campaigns in India's recent military history such as the 1965 Indo-Pak War. Five and a half decades later one wonders what can come out of the subject from the military history point of view unless some new material has been unraveled or a compelling narrative can be spun out of the myriad events - diplomatic, political and of course military. Shiv Kunal Verma's work is a part of the latter genre where the author musters his considerable skills in research as well wordplay to provide us a survey of the gamut of events that led to and concluded in the War and how the same was conducted at multiple levels from the strategy to the trenches.
