Consortium Led by Mitsui Wins Construction Contract for the Shuaiba North Power and Water Complex

A consortium led by Mitsui & Company of Japan has won a turnkey contract worth about 1.3 billion for the construction of the Shuaiba North power and water complex.The EPC(engineering,procurement and construction)contract,which is due to be finalized in July,calls for the installation of power generation capacity of 750 MW and desalination capacity of 45 million gallons/day.The other members of the consortium are Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co.of South Korea,which will be responsible for the civil engineering and construction of the power station under a 711-million contract awarded by Mitsui,and Fisia Italimpianti,which is to build the seawater desalination plant.
