EarthOptics raises nearly $28 m in Series B funding

US soil data measurement and mapping business EarthOptics (Arlington, Virginia) has raised $27.6 million in Series B funding. The company notes that the capital infusion will enable it to advance the capabilities of its GroundOwl suite of sensors, besides accelerating the rm’s growth in terms of acreage and service providers. EarthOptics highlights that it uses a combination of ground-based sensors, satellites, physical soil samples, machine learning models, and agronomic expertise to assist growers to arrive at “data-driven” decisions involving their land. The business rates its technology as “groundbreaking”, adding that it simplies a host of farm activities, including “quantifying” carbon sequestration.
