Import iron ore price may lower as supply-demand situation tends to loose in 2006

Director of China Iron and Steel Association recently made remarks on market tendency of international iron ore seaborne trade in 2006 when receiving an interview from CES reporter. The supply demand situation of global iron ore seaborne trade next year may virtually keep balance and perhaps tends to oversupply. World crude steel production for 61 countries and regions reporting to the International Iron and Steel Institute stood at 728.98 million tons during January to August of 2005, up by 47.024 million tons or 6.9 percent from the same period of last year; Crude steel production apart from China amounted to 504.13 million tons, down 2.436 million tons or 0.48 percent. Pig iron production during the same period for 41 countries and regions was 510.563 million tons, up 47.506 million tons or 10.3 percent; that apart from China was 299.945 million tons, donw 6.324 million tons or 2.06 percent.
