The ore consists of lumps, sinter, pellets, etc.; and both fuel and oxygen flow through the upper part of the tuyeres. Air enriched with fuel and oxygen pref. flows above a dividing partition (a) at lower velocity than non-enriched air flowing through the tuyere below the partition (a); and each tuyere pref. contains a horizontal partition (a) in the middle of the tuyere and sepg. the enriched air from the non-enriched air. The amt. of coke fed into the furnace with the charge of ore can be reduced by 5-10%; and the productivity of the furnace is increased by 5-10%.
