The German company Siemens has announced the signing of a contract worth $966.8 million for the supply of the main equipment for the gas-fired, combined-cycle power station being developed to supply electricity to the industrial city and oil refinery of Jazan, in southwestern Saudi Arabia. The power station will run on gasified refinery residues, "which will contribute greatly to the preservation of the country's energy resources," explained Siemens in a statement. With a capacity of 4,000 MW, Jazan will be the world's largest power station running on gasified residues.
