Sino-Saudi Gas Defers the Drilling of Another Exploration Well on its Concession

Sino-Saudi Gas, a joint venture between Sinopec (80%) and Saudi Aramco (20%), has decided to defer indefinitely the drilling of another well on its concession in the Rub' al-Khali desert, according to industrial sources. The joint venture is continuing to evaluate the planned site of the well, which was due to be spudded in September. In January the President and Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Aramco, Mr. Khalid al-Falih, indicated that Sino-Saudi Gas had decided to enter into the second phase of its exploration agreement and to drill more wells on its acreage starting in the second half of 2012 (AOG, 1 April, 2012).
