Assets Held by the Two State Reserve Funds Stood at 166.5 Billion at 31 March 2006

The assets held by Kuwait's two state reserve funds were valued at 166.5 billion as at 31 March last,representing a 37.5% increase from the previous year(121.1 billion),according to the local newspaper Al Watan,quoting official sources.These assets are divided between the General Reserve Fund(33.4 billion)and the Reserve Fund for Future Generations(RFFG-133.1 billion),both of which are managed by the Kuwait Investment Authority(KIA).Under Kuwaiti law,10% of total budgetary receipts are transferred to the RFFG each year.
