Investments of 10 Billion Planned Over the 2006-2010 Period to Step Up Hydrocarbon Production

The Minister of Oil and Gas,Mr.Mohamed bin Hamad bin Seif al-Romhi,has disclosed that Oman plans to invest us10 billion over the 2006-2010 period to increase its oil and gas production.He explained that the objective was to step up oil output from 780,000 b/d at present to 900,000 b/d in 2010 and to double natural gas production to 70-80 million cu m/day.The country's oil production fell by 29,700 b/d to around 750,000 b/d last year.The 2006-2010 period corresponds to the seventh five-year plan.
