Egypt Set to Become France's Third LNG Supplier After Algeria and Nigeria

On the occasion of the delivery of the first cargo of Egyptian liquefied natural gas(LNG)to the Montoir de Bretagne LNG terminal of Gaz de France,the Chairman of the French company,Mr.Jean-Francois Cirelli,pointed out that Egypt was set to become France's third LNG supplier after Algeria and Nigeria.Under an agreement signed by Gaz de France in October 2002,France is to import 4.8 billion cu m/year of LNG from Egypt over a 20-year period,representing the whole of the output of the first train of the Idku liquefaction plant operated by Egyptian LNG(ELNG).ELNG is a joint venture between BG(35.5%),Petronas(35.5%),the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation(EGPC-12%),the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company(EGAS-12%)and Gaz de France(5%).
