Natural gas futures rose this week on a report showing smaller than expected inventory growth last week and forecasts for hot weather in the weeks ahead. NYMEX gas for July delivery climbed 27.6 cents, or 6.1pc this week to settle yesterday at 4.794 dollars - the highest prompt settlement since 30 July 2010. Prices were boosted yesterday after the US Energy Information Administration reported that stockpiles grew by 83 Bcf (2.4bn m?) last week.
