Thermal coal stocks at northern Europe’s key terminals were flat over the past week, as arrivals kept pace with demand. Stocks at northern Europe’s two largest terminals — Rotterdam’s EMO and Amsterdam’s OBA — were unchanged week on week at 4.5mn t, with EMO and OBA holding 2mn t and 2.5mn t, respectively. Low temperatures have supported German coal burn, but fresh shipments have enabled port operators to replenish inventories at an equal rate to the drawdown.
