The spill of more than a billion gallons of coal ash slurry at the coal-fired Kingston plant last week covered up the rail spur that serves the plant, cutting off coal deliveries for 15- 20 days until repairs are made. Seven of nine units at the Tennessee Valley Authority's (TVA) 1,456MW Kingston plant in Tennessee are offline after an earthen retaining wall for a fly ash storage pond broke on Dec. 22, sending the slurry into an area covering 300 acres.
