MSC plans ahead

Cruise company MSC has implemented a voyage-planning and monitoring system that uses real-time ship position and other voyage data to monitor the progress of the company's fleet. MSC approached Dutch independent software design company Quality Positioning Services (QPS) after seeing its analysis of Costa Concordia's tracks both on its last voyage and on a previous close pass of Giglio.
