Boxed ballast water solution

MOL announced in late January that it had acquired approval in concept for the installation of a packaged container ballast water treatment system that could fit in a vessel's cargo hold. The company says installing the technology on an existing ship could be much faster than for a system installed in the engine room. The initiative is a being jointly undertaken with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and marks Japan's first approval of such a system by ClassNK.
