IMO alters committee structure

A slimmed down sub-committee structure has been approved by the IMO as an efficiency and cost-saving measure, At the IMO Council meeting in London last month, the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC) were asked to consider proposals which could see the number of Sub-Committees reduced from nine to seven, potentially saving four meeting weeks per biennium.
