Will the pumps run dry?

In common with most other equipment manufacturers, suppliers of pumps and compressors are facing an uncertain period as world shipbuilding output shrinks. They are probably hoping that seven years of abundance do not presage - as they did in the Pharaoh's dream - the arrival of seven years of famine. It looks likely that over the next few years the number of ships produced will fall by around 30 year-on-year as the overcapacity that has been introduced into the various shipping sectors is shaken out. That will inevitably affect sales to shipping and may well cause some casualties among the ranks of pump and compressor makers; although, with a very few exceptions, most manufacturers are not solely reliant on the shipping industry.
