Germany could increase biomass burn

Germany's lower and upper houses of parliament have passed reforms to the renewable energy act (EEG), paving the way for more biomass-fired power generation capacity. Amendments to the draft bill include technology neutral pilot auctions from 2018, which will allow bids for combined renewable power solutions, enabling projects that pool wind, solar or biomass plants to participate.
