Premium certified prices in Italy were heard to firm slightly on the week, boosted by a rise in demand and lower temperatures. Spot prices for bagged pellets delivered to the northern ports were discussed mainly in the range of ?190-205/t. Temperatures in northern cities reported in line with their 10-year historical averages have encouraged steady consumption in February-April. Offers for bagged delivered pellets were reported roughly ?10/t higher in the south, between ?200-210/t, with stocks still higher in the region. Further forward, a bulk market was reported to be bid at ?152/t and offered at ?159/t, for Q4 deliveries on a cif north-western Italy basis. A slightly firmer bid, closer to ?155/t was reported for the same period on a cif northeastern basis. For prompt deliveries, ?160/t is largely viewed as the ceiling price at the moment for bulk deliveries.
