Russian bitumen output slips in September

Russian bitumen production dipped by 4.6pc in September, to 593,900t, as demand from paving work slowed. Bitumen production in Russia is driven mostly by domestic demand, which has its peak in the summer months because of seasonal road construction and repair works, along with housing construction where it is mostly used as waterproof- ing material. But from September demand starts to wane and producers are now cutting or halting output.
