Japanese firms consider biomass power project

Japanese utility Chugoku Electric Power and regional gas retailer Hiroshima Gas are considering building a 100MW biomass and coal co-fired power generation plant at Kaita in the country’s western Hiroshima prefecture. Chugoku and Hiroshima Gas are still discussing details of the project, including its start-up date. They aim to begin an environmental assessment in the fiscal year that starts 1 April. The proposed plant is expected to be constructed at the site of Hiroshima Gas’ former production plant at Kaita, around 10km west of Hiroshima city.
